The ANIMASYROS International Animation Festival is the largest festival and the most important trade event of its kind in Greece. It ranks among the twenty most prestigious animation festivals worldwide. The event was launched in 2008 and has been held every September since then in the neoclassical town of Hermoupolis on the island of Syros.

FAN brings together five European animation festivals—Animafest Cyprus (Cyprus), Animasyros (Greece), CINANIMA (Portugal), IMAGINARIA (Italy), and Prime the Animation! (Spain)—in a dynamic collaboration that spans the European continent from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and also includes associated partner festivals from various parts of the world.
